All About the Pastor and Family
Pastor Dennis Green is an ordained minister in excellent standing with the United Pentecostal Church International. Pastor Green has 25 years of continuous pastoral experience. He has been a keynote speaker at conferences in Europe, Asia, Canada and various special meetings in the United States. He has been married to his lovely wife Theda for 26 years, and their son Britain is 16 years of age. Pastor Green has led several choirs, plays musical instruments and is an accomplished singer. He has a great love for people and a burden for growth and revival.
At the age of 21 while in the U.S. Army he felt a call to the ministry and started a church for the American military stationed in Kitzingen, Germany. The church grew to an average attendance of over 120 in four and a half years. This was accomplished in spite of its members continually being transferred back to the United States, or other locations due to their military obligations. In 1986 Pastor Green chose to leave the military and pursue the ministry on a full-time basis. From that time he worked closely with the Military Ministries Coordinator of Europe and the Middle East. He also worked closely with the Foreign Missions Division UPCI. Pastor Green served as a board member and ministerial licensing committee member for Military Ministries, Europe.
Throughout his pastoral experience, Pastor Green has worked to develop churches whose growth was multi-cultural. Also, while pastoring American military churches overseas he has had the responsibility of pastoring people from a wide range of organizational backgrounds, such as Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW), Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ (ALJC), Church of our Lord Jesus Christ (COOLJC), United Pentecostal Church International. (UPCI), Independent, etc… Pastor Green was always able to keep harmony and church growth at the forefront through his love, patience and tolerance.
Pastor Green has a strong burden for young people and children. He served as Youth Camp principal for 2 years and has helped to develop Youth Leaders and several strong youth groups under his ministry.
Pastor Green is a firm believer in leadership development and staff training. He has helped to train new ministers as well as developing lay persons for various ministries within the church and community.
In 1990 Pastor Green was privileged to lead evening worship for the UPCI General Conference in the New Orleans Superdome, and was also selected to serve on the Music Committee for UPCI General Conference 1996 in San Antonio, Texas. Pastor Green has also been emcee and assisted with several European Conferences and a World Conference in Amsterdam, Holland. He also pastored an American military church in Mildenhall England, with a total of nearly 12 years of missionary service in Germany and England.
In 1994, Pastor Green relocated to the United States from Europe, and accepted the pastorate of Apostolic Faith Center UPC in Pecos, Texas. During his tenure in Pecos, the parsonage and other properties owned by the church were renovated and helped to produce income in rentals for the church. The church experienced considerable growth under the Green’s leadership, and still remains a strong and growing church in Texico District. Shortly after assuming the Pastorate of Pecos, Rev. Terry Pugh who is Pastor of the First United Pentecostal Church of Odessa, Texas, and Texico District Superintendent asked Pastor Green to come on staff full time as Assistant Pastor, but also to continue as Pastor of Pecos. Pastor Green accepted this offer and was in at least 4 services weekly and adequately dealt with the necessary responsibilities of both churches.
Pastor Green served as pastor of the Abundant Faith Center UPC in Columbus, Georgia for close to 7 years. The church was in need of many repairs and needed additional space as the church grew under Pastor Green’s leadership. An existing church mortgage was paid off the first 3 years. Later, a new automated baptistery was installed; prayer rooms, dressing rooms and a nursery were built as new additions to the existing church building. The parsonage where the former pastor lived was renovated into a fellowship hall, kitchen, church education classrooms and a new Pastor’s study. This was all accomplished without any church debt, and with monies remaining in the building fund upon completion. The church was awarded a charter for Boy Scouts of America, Troop 777. Under Pastor Green’s leadership the church also taught the EXCELL Bible School program, which is an extension of Texas Bible College.
In June of 2004 God moved upon the Green’s heart to relocate to McKinney, Texas and establish a new church which was named Abundant Grace Church. Pastor Green had somehow felt a longing to come to the Dallas area for over 20 years, but God always has a perfect plan and timing. Though planting a new church is never easy, Pastor Green feels that God has planned a great revival and a vibrant growing church for McKinney which is the fastest growing city in the United States and soon to be the 4th largest city of the DFW metroplex. Abundant Grace Church’s motto is “Where Hurting People Feel Loved” It is Pastor Green’s desire to truly reach out to everyone regardless of race, creed , color or social status. Isaiah chapter 61 is truly the foundation of this church!
Pastor Green’s wife Theda has also been an immense help to his ministry. She is musically talented in singing, and plays the piano and keyboards. Theda has directed choirs and has also taught in ladies retreats, seminars, and Sunday School for many years. She served 4 consecutive years as a board member for the largest home school support group encompassing 8 counties within west Georgia and east Alabama. She was also involved with the church’s Cub Scout and Boy Scout program. Presently in the town of Anna, Texas where the Greens live, Theda was elected as the Vice President for the Chamber of Commerce. She is President of the board for 3 Charter Schools located in Dallas and El Paso and still provides a Home School education for their son Britain who is now in his Senior year. Britain is currently working on his Eagle Project for the Boy Scouts of America and plans to attend Texas Christian University with a major in Film Animation. Britain is a fine young man who loves God and is also a great blessing to the church.
